Directional downlighting or a suspended fixture?
A directional downlight lets you aim at a path, planting bed or feature below. A hanging fixture provides another approach for trees, gazebos and suitable structures. Check the exact mounting hardware, support requirements and cable route; similarly shaped housings may use different mounts.
Plan a moonlighting effect
Moonlighting places illumination above the scene to create pools of light and natural shadows. Evaluate the view from seating areas and windows, and avoid exposing the lamp directly to viewers. Mounting height, foliage and beam distribution all affect the result.

Match the lamp to the housing
