Choosing Landscape Accent, Spot and Flood Lights
Choose the fixture by the effect you want to create, not wattage alone. Narrower beams concentrate light on trunks, columns, architectural details and smaller focal points. Wider beams distribute light across facades, tree canopies, walls and broad planting areas. The right output depends on throw distance, beam distribution, mounting position and how reflective the illuminated surface is.
Beam Spread, Aiming and Glare Control
A well-aimed accent light should emphasize the subject without making the fixture itself the visual focus. Use beam spread, shielding, louvers and mounting position to keep stray light out of normal sightlines. Adjustable fixtures make it easier to fine-tune aiming after the landscape matures or the target changes.
Complete the Low-Voltage Lighting System
Coordinate accent fixtures with the rest of the system rather than selecting them in isolation. Pair them with the correct low-voltage transformer, landscape lighting cable and weather-resistant connectors. For low-profile uplighting applications, also compare well and in-ground lights.
