G4 LED Bulbs & T3 Replacement Lamps
Shop G4 LED bulbs for compatible low-voltage landscape lighting, including path lights, deck lights and step lights. Compare compact bi-pin lamps, wafer designs and specialty options by wattage, color temperature and physical size. If your existing lamp is labeled T3, check its base before choosing a replacement: this collection brings together G4 LED lamps, including models also described as T3.
G4 and T3: check the base and the bulb
G4 identifies a two-pin base with pins spaced 4 mm apart. T3 describes a tubular bulb shape or a manufacturer’s lamp family. Many small landscape lamps use both descriptions, but the terms are not interchangeable for every bulb. A G4 wafer lamp can have the same pin spacing as a tubular lamp while requiring different clearance inside the fixture.
How to choose a G4 LED replacement bulb
- Match the electrical requirements. For a 12V landscape system, check the lamp’s stated operating range and whether it accepts AC, DC or both. Confirm transformer and dimmer compatibility for the exact model.
- Measure the available space. Compare lamp length, width, pin orientation and clearance under the lens or shade. A matching G4 base alone does not guarantee fit.
- Choose brightness and light distribution. Compare lumens as well as watts. Omnidirectional, directional and wafer designs distribute light differently.
- Match the color temperature. Choose 2700K for a warmer appearance or 3000K for a slightly crisper warm white. Check individual listings for amber, other white-light options or adjustable color.
- Check outdoor-use requirements. Some lamps need an enclosed, weather-protected fixture. Follow the lamp and fixture manufacturers’ installation requirements.
G4 LED bulb questions
Are T3 and G4 bulbs the same?
Some lamps are described as G4 (T3), but G4 identifies the base and T3 identifies the shape or lamp family. Check both specifications, along with voltage and dimensions, rather than selecting a replacement by the T3 label alone.
Can I replace a G4 halogen bulb with an LED?
A G4 LED may replace a G4 halogen lamp when the fixture, supply voltage, transformer, dimming system and physical clearance are compatible. Choose the desired lumen output instead of matching the old halogen wattage.
Will every G4 bulb work in a landscape light?
No. Base size is only one requirement. Confirm the lamp’s voltage, dimensions, environmental rating and any model-specific restrictions. Smart lamps may also require a compatible app or control system.
