Damp-rated or wet-rated outdoor fans?
Damp-rated ceiling fans are intended for protected areas with humidity but no direct rain exposure. Wet-rated ceiling fans are designed for locations where rain exposure is permitted by the manufacturer. Check the specific model and installation instructions; “outdoor” styling alone does not establish a rating, and a wet rating does not automatically establish suitability for a coastal environment.

- Mounting: check ceiling height, blade clearance, assembled drop and any approved accessories for a sloped ceiling.
