Underwater Dock Lighting

An underwater dock light does two things at once: it turns your waterfront into a glowing feature after dark, and it builds a food chain. The light draws plankton, plankton draws baitfish, and baitfish draw the game fish you were hoping to catch off the end of your own dock. Choosing a color

Green is the fishing standard. The green wavelength penetrates water efficiently and is the most effective at attracting plankton, which is why it's the first choice for anglers. Blue gives the cleanest, most dramatic look on clear water and is the popular pick when ambiance matters more than the catch. White lights the water column for visibility around the dock — useful for night docking and swimming. Red, orange and purple are available when you want a distinctive signature on the water.

Can't decide? The Iris models let you switch between blue and green on the same fixture, so you can run green while you're fishing and blue when you're entertaining.

Mega-Watt or Apollo?

Mega-Watt is the high-output option, with arrays up to 32,000 lumens — the choice for deep water, murky water, wide docks, or anywhere you want maximum reach and a display visible from the house. Apollo is the professional-grade workhorse: strong output at a lower price point, well suited to typical residential docks and smaller boat slips.

Picking a cord length

Every system ships with an integrated power cord in 40, 80 or 120 feet. Measure from the outlet or panel you'll plug into, out to where the fixture will hang, and add slack for water level changes and seasonal adjustment. Running short is the most common ordering mistake — cords are not field-extendable, so size up if you're between lengths. Most residential docks land on 80 feet; long piers and commercial slips usually need 120.

Before you order

Dock lighting is a wet-location electrical install near water, and local codes typically require GFCI protection and may require a licensed electrician. Check what your municipality and marina rules allow before you buy. These systems are designed for submerged use and should never be operated out of the water.
