Intermatic DT200LT: Features and Setup Checklist
The Intermatic DT200LT is a digital astronomic landscape timer. Intermatic lists dusk or fixed-time ON options and dawn or fixed-time OFF options, with automatic daylight-saving adjustment. Confirm its suitability for your transformer before installation.
Check the load and enclosure
The manufacturer lists use with low-voltage transformers up to 1200 W. Read the full load ratings and installation requirements; the headline rating does not prove every transformer and enclosure combination is suitable. The timer's input is 120 VAC, so it is not a device to place across a 12V fixture circuit.
Understand the backup function
A timer backup battery supports timing or stored settings as specified. It does not supply operating power to the landscape lights during a utility outage. Follow the instructions for battery replacement and recovery after a power interruption.
Prepare the settings
Have the installation location, desired ON behavior, and desired OFF time ready. Follow the DT200LT instructions supplied with the timer for the exact button sequence. Confirm the clock and daylight-saving settings, test operation, and leave the timer in the intended automatic mode.
Check before calling a timer faulty
Look for an active manual override, an incorrect clock, or a conflicting control elsewhere in the system. Document the display and the observed switching time. This is more useful for troubleshooting than repeatedly clearing the schedule.

For first-time setup, activate the battery, then use the selector knob and SET button to enter the time, date, daylight-saving setting and location. Check the dawn/dusk offsets before finishing. The timer supports one ON/OFF pair; follow the PDF’s illustrated sequence to change either event. Read its safety section before installation or battery replacement.

Intermatic lists one ON event and one OFF event. Plan a single daily operating period; do not assume this model provides several independent evening and morning windows. An astronomic dusk setting follows a calculated time, so correct location and clock setup matter.
If the DT200LT is not switching as expected
- Wrong time: compare the displayed time and AM/PM with the actual time, then review location and daylight-saving setup.
- Always on or off: check the operating mode and any manual override before clearing the schedule.
- Timer switches but lights stay dark: a second timer, photocell, transformer fault or circuit issue may be involved. Record what operates and when.
- After an outage: check the clock and stored settings. The backup function is not a power supply for the landscape lights.
A timer cannot make an incompatible transformer or damaged circuit suitable. If protection trips repeatedly, stop resetting it and arrange diagnosis. Check the transformer’s own control instructions, especially for connected systems that require continuous power.
